I got access to Bing Chat last week after waiting a month. Bing Chat uses the similar but more advanced AI technology of ChatGPT. After the release of ChatGPT, Microsoft has already invested more than $3 billion in it and plans to invest about $10 billion, which makes Bing Chat and ChatGPT siblings. Irrespective of that, one can’t help but compare technologies.
A few key points on how Bing Chat and ChatGPT differ:
As Bing Chat is part of the search engine, it gives up-to-date information by accessing the web and gives reference to the source of the content. ChatGPT can’t provide up-to-date answers to questions about current events. It uses a pre-defined pool of data.
Bing Chat is free to use, but there are restrictions on the number of conversations per session and day. Currently, it is ten chats per session and a total of 120 chats per day. ChatGPT is free, but optional paid version users have priority.
“ChatGPT may be more flexible and creative in generating the content, but it may also generate some inappropriate or harmful content sometimes.” [Source - Bing Chat]
Overall, from a user experience point of view, I found ChatGPT better for its simplicity and more humane response than Bing Chat.
